Safeguarding in adult social care settings draws on clinical & professional knowledge as well as expertise of what constitutes adult abuse, harm or neglect.

 Leaders must not only have this understanding but the skills to impart their knowledge and the confidence to support others in fulfilling their safeguarding duties.

 This essential masterclass will help leaders do just that.

Delegates will gain a comprehensive understanding of their role in both leadership and managerial responsibilities when it comes to safeguarding including training staff on their roles, Mental Capacity Act responsibilities, DoLS and restrictive practices.

By the end of this masterclass delegates will:

  • Have a greater awareness of legislation & current trends in safeguarding

  • Develop a better understanding of their responsibilities when it comes to leading on safeguarding

  • Become more confident in training others in their safeguarding responsibilities

  • Gain key information regarding reporting concerns, & the conduct of adult protection investigations

  • Know how to prepare for, & participate in, adult protection case conferences

  • Be aware of methods for liaising proactively with all statutory bodies in relation to adult protection

  • Learn essential lessons in risk management

Introducing the day's facilitator: Tina Welford, Managing Director/ Senior Consultant, No Whispers

Tina has significant experience of working in both the private and public sector in a variety of roles including as a regional and national CQC inspector. She set up her own Company ECLM Ltd - coaching, leadership and management development company which also  provides health and social care training and development, business turn around  mock CQC style inspections/audits of children and young people services, investigations into poor performing staff and external consultant on professional performance and disciplinary panels/investigations.

The company has expanded to CPD for registered managers and has associate auditors and trainers including trainers for safeguarding, Mental Capacity Act trainers, clinical skills, moving and handling, health and safety, food hygiene training and leadership and management courses.

Tina also works as an independent expert witness for providers at both tribunals and judicial reviews for providers challenging CQC.
