New National Safeguarding Guidance: Revisiting Safeguarding Practice, January 2022

New National Guidance - Revisiting Safeguarding Practice was released on the 28th January 2022 by the Department of Health and Social Care. The guidance sets out the roles and responsibilities in relation to adult safeguarding in local authorities, including the statutory duties social workers and others with delegated responsibilities are expected to fulfil.
This briefing also covers:

  • the importance of maintaining consistent good practice principles
  • the application of our duties under the care act, with a focus on adult safeguarding

“Good safeguarding practice acknowledges the complexity of people’s lives, the many enablers and barriers they may face to keeping them safe and well and most importantly, what they want to do about it. It can sometimes be a challenge for practitioners to balance a person’s priorities and aspirations for safety and wellbeing with their professional judgement of risks and the evidence they are presented with. Person-centred and strengths-based practice approaches are key to finding this balance.”
